Two Junior RDFNL Players selected at National Draft
The RDFNL had not one, but two junior footballers drafted during last night's AFL National Draft.
Josh Goater formerly a Sunbury Lion Junior was the first called with pick 22 for North Melbourne and he was followed by Paul Curtis with pick 35 also to North Melbourne.
Josh Goater played all of his Junior football in the RDFNL for the Sunbury Lions Juniors starting in the Under 9’s in 2010.
Josh played in 139 matches in the RDFNL Junior Competitions for the Lions right up to the 2019 season.
During that 139 matches Josh booted 156 goals. Goater also represented the RDFNL on 12 occasions at Under 12, 13, 14 and 15 level and kicking 16 goals and being named in the best on 8 occasions.
Josh graduated from the RDFNL to play for the Calder Cannons, he also represented Essendon in the VFL and last night was taken by North Melbourne in the AFL National Draft.
Paul Curtis played Junior football in the RDFNL at Melton South between 2012-2018 representing Melton South in RDFNL matches on 107 occasions kicking 141 goals during those games.
Paul represented the RDFNL on 9 occasions at Under 12, 13, 14 and 15 level.
Paul also polled the most votes in the League during the 2018 season in the RDFNL Under 15B Competition.
Paul was identified by the Western Jets during the 2018 season playing for Melton South and has now been taken by North Melbourne in the AFL National Draft.
