Senior Interleague Coaches locked in

The Bendigo Bank RDFNL are pleased to announce they have locked in all the senior coaches for the 2024 clash against the Southern Football Netball League in May.

Leading the charge on the football field will be Daniel Nolan from the Wallan Football Netball Club.

Nolan has coached in the league for several seasons now and has developed strong relations with opposition players and coaches as well as having an extensive knowledge of the league and its players.

Jason Cooke is the Under 19s coach and is another familiar face within the league.

Cooke had success with his Macedon Under 19 charges in last years RDFNL competition and has been the spearhead forward for Macedon FNC in the senior competition for several years.

Heading up the women's program is Scott Caton who is the newly appointed Woodend Hesket Women's senior coach.

Caton has a passion for all things teaching, coaching and development and is a welcome addition to the league and the 2024 interleague program.

Katie Clarke is in her first season of A grade coaching at Macedon but with a decorated playing career in the RDFNL spanning over 10 years she edged out some fantastic applicants.

Clarke has played at a high level exposing her to elite coaching and we expect a strong team to want to play under someone of her calibre.

Club Development Manager Grant McMillian was pleased to appoint three well regarded coaches to the football roles.

"The RDFNL is thrilled to appoint our Senior Interleague Football Coaching panel for 2024 and are very much looking forward to the return game against the Southern Football Netball League in May," McMillan said.

"All of our appointed coaches have a great passion for Interleague football and are giving up their time on top of their club coaching roles so are very well committed. It is an honour for players and coaches to be able to represent their league, and Interleague games provide another opportunity to display the calibre and depth of football talent that exists in the RDFNL."

RDFNL Netball Manager Grace Bibby was equally happy with the appointment of Clarke.

"Katie has been a fantastic player and supporter of the RDFNL," Bibby said.

"She brings so much energy and fun to our competition and we are confident she will put a very competitive team together to take on Southern Football Netball League. Both leagues have great depth to their competitions and we are looking forward to showcasing a great game of netball in May."

It has been five years since Senior Interleague football and netball has been on the agenda for the RDFNL and many players toward the end of last season expressed a keen interest in being involved.

The coaches will now begin their preparations and planning for the one off game against SFNL on May 11, 2024 at the state of the art facilities at RSEA Park.

Assistant coaches and players to be announced closer to the event.
